Driving Collective Action for Social Impact

Ray-ann Sedres, Head of Sanlam Foundation, stressed the vast social challenges that no single institution can address alone, advocating for collaborative efforts to achieve scale and impact.

She emphasised the "three Cs" - collaboration, crowding in, and collective action - as critical for tackling issues like poverty and unemployment. Sedres called for the Sanlam Foundation and the broader Sanlam Group to work with other corporates, foundations, and stakeholders, particularly in the Greater Tygerberg area, to foster local economic growth and support communities.

By setting aside branding and possessiveness, she envisions thought leadership that unites stakeholders to address specific local challenges, noting that continuing isolated efforts after 30 years of democracy has not alleviated persistent poverty and unemployment. Collective action is essential to achieve meaningful, transformative outcomes.
