This webinar explored:

• Several municipalities in South Africa have been put under s139 of the Constitution Intervention by respective Provincial Executive Committees, however very few have been executed successfully whilst some have been overturned by Courts. The most recent and notable intervention that was ventilated through the South African Court system up to the Constitutional Court is an intervention by Gauteng Provincial Government in Tshwane Metro Municipality.
• Western Cape Government has demonstrated success in intervening in Oudtshoorn Local Municipality in 2015, such intervention can be a blueprint for successful intervention.
• Ways to get the S139 interventions right and how to plan, execute and sustain the interventions for healthy finances, sustainable governance and improved service delivery.
